Harry, Hogwarts and an amazing hotel
Last Sunday I turned 29. I am now in my thirtieth year. Argh. If you follow me on instagram you’ll already know that to cheer me up the lovely boyfriend organised a super surprise weekend of treats, and it was amazing. It also helped with the post holiday blues!
We stayed in a spectacular hotel, had a return trip to Alton Towers, a day at the Harry Potter studios AND a pink owl cake! I felt well and truly spoiled. The hotel is a converted abbey and had a distinctly Hogwartsy feel to it, complete with stone staircases, suits of armour, reading nooks and a moat. An actual moat! The Harry Potter studios themselves were fantastically exciting. If you like the Harry Potter films you MUST go! We saw so many original sets, props, details of special effects … I can’t describe how much fun it was for a pair of HP fans. I’ve been trying to decide which my favourite part was, which is nigh on impossible. How can I choose between the wonder of Dumbledore’s office, the cosiness of the Gryffindor common room, the majesty of the great hall, the excitement of Diagon Alley, the hilarity of the boyfriend’s green screen broomstick flight, the beauty of the film artwork, the cleverness of the special effects, the overpriced chocolate wand I bought in the gift shop or the sheer impressiveness of the giant Hogwarts model which they used for all the outdoor shots of the castle? The whole thing was just brilliant. Thank you, lovely boyfriend!
