Ice ice baby

February 15, 2013

To be honest, I wasn’t aware that the internet was responsible for Nutella’s cool factor, but I have definitely loved it for a long time!  I remember a family holiday to Germany when we would have pre-breakfast Nutella on crackers before going for an early morning swim in the pool.  Perfection.  When I was trying to decide what flavour of ice cream I should make this week Nutella seemed an obvious choice, and I’m not quite sure why I didn’t think of it before!  A quick google turned up a reasonable looking recipe from a site dedicated to ice cream making which I think will be a useful discovery for the future.  I made this for dessert last night and served it with white chocolate covered strawberries cut into heart shapes (if you can’t be corny on Valentine’s day, when can you?!)  Double yum.

Nutella ice cream (recipe from Scoop Adventures)

1.  Put 235g Nutella, 100g sugar, 330ml whole milk and 330ml double cream in a blender.  Blitz until the mixture is smooth.

2.  Chill the mixture in the fridge for 1-2 hours then churn in your ice cream maker for 30 mins until thickened.

3.  Pour into a tupperware and freeze for a few hours until firm.  I made mine the night before and it was perfectly scoopable straight from the freezer.

Ooh this sounds delicious! I too didn’t know the internet had made it cool…it’s always been cool to me!

The ice cream sounds nice, but I must admit I don’t like Nutella. The thought of it makes me wince – it has that Marmite effect with me I think – love it or hate it! x

Nutella is cool? Do you think that makes eating it by the spoon okay? We bought a big tub for Pancake Tuesday and now I remember why I only buy it once a year – no.self.control : )

Oh how funny! I’ve loved nutella for a long time too, I didn’t realise it had gone out of fashion and back in via the internet. All one needs is a spoon to enjoy nutella :) .
