January read and watched and liked

I’ve been watching and reading a lot lately (well, it is winter) and thought I would share some of my favourites with you:

The Fear Index is another gripping thriller by Robert Harris, although I found all the stock market chat a bit confusing even though he tried hard to write it in layman’s terms!

The Name of the Star was a gift (from the same fabulous friend who made that chalkboard mug).  I’m only half way through but it’s so good I struggled to put it down to write this.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is the sequel to my favourite blook club book so far, and while not as good as the first one it’s still very addictive stuff.  I can’t wait for the final instalment of the trilogy!

I was super excited to see Les Miserables as, well, it looked epic, and I wasn’t disappointed (in spite of Russell Crowe’s dodgy singing).  Just remember to have some tissues handy.

We’ve been working our way through the box set of Last Chance to See, which follows Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine’s adventures to find animals close to extinction.  Entertaining and educational: what’s not to love?

Race 2 was my first ever Bollywood film and it was a fairly surreal experience as it was very different to the western cinema I’m used to –  there was even an interval!    It was worth it though as my boyfriend had a starring role – well, he was an out of focus waiter in the back of one scene, the result of a day’s work as an extra when he was travelling in India last year!

You can pass the Robert Harris onto me if you like. Have you been abandoned for the rugby today?

    Love, Dadso xx

Will do! And no, although there was some on in the background … I did my best to ignore it!

I so need to start reading books again! I used to read all the time then we had babies and I suddenly had another million things to do. My plan is to start reading in bed in the evening. Thanks for the recommendations, I will be checking them out!
