How to cure a tickly cough

December 31, 2012

That’s what I was googling at 3am on Sunday morning, having spent the last hour up coughing!  I was looking for an answer which didn’t involve me finding a 24 hour chemist (I’m not even sure there are any 24 hour chemists in Edinburgh, and I’m certainly not keen to get out of bed at 3am to find out).  Anyway, in amongst all the recommendations about pholcodine and honey and lemon I came across a surprising tip: rub Vicks Vaporub onto the soles of your feet, covering them from toes to heels, then put on some socks and settle down to sleep.  By this point I was pretty desperate and I knew I had some Vicks (unlike the precious pholcodine) so I gave it a try, and it really worked!  I thought it was too good (and too random) not to share.

Woah, that sounds kind of spooky but impressive! You’re right, it’s too random not to share (or try). Shame I’ve not got a tickly cough (actually, it’s not a shame but you know what I mean!). Hope you feel better soon & happy new year! x

Works especially well on babies and children with coughs too. Feel better soon.
