And so it begins

November 29, 2011

The Christmas baking has begun.  Well it is advent after all.  I had some friends over for dinner last night and made Nigella’s ridiculously named ‘snow flecked brownies’ for dessert.  They are the dense fudgy sort of brownie, not the chewy cakey sort that I actually prefer, but they went down pretty well.  And they look awfully pretty with my new starry fairy lights, don’t you think?  When you’re only ever at home when it’s dark you have to come up with creative ways of lighting pictures!

How are your Christmas preparations coming on?  Are you super organised or leaving it all to the last minute?  Entering into the spirit of things or bah humbugging your way to Boxing Day?  Normally this is my favourite time of the year but with everything that’s been happening lately I’m a bit behind, in excitement levels as well as practical preparations.  Any tips to get me organised and upbeat will be gratefully received!

Online shopping is the greatest invention ever. EVER. You can get your whole list taken care of in one fell swoop. It’s awesome. And I think elves will come and wrap it for you. That’s what I am hoping, anyway.

I love shopping on Etsy these days – so many inspiring, beautiful shops. And yes, I adore online shopping. So much.

I’m also finding it helpful to just sit in front of the Christmas tree, with my journal or a cuppa, and just rest for a few minutes each night. Helps with the panic.

    Those brownies look delectable! x

Ooh love your twinkly star lights :-) Christmas totally snuck up on me this year – I’m already starting to panic!

I feel all topsy turvy and only borderline Christmassy. I thought my house renovations would have been done and dusted months ago and would now be cooking, crafting, relaxing and being festive in a beautiful ‘new’ home. Alas, I have no cooker, sink, floor or lighting in my kitchen. My living room is full of boxes and waiting to be decorated and the bathroom needs replastering and new flooring. The only place I have to sit is on my bed!

I guess my situation will improve but as I usually so look forward to this time of year and decorating the house from top to bottom, I can’t help but feel a bit Eeyore like. I guess I’ll just have to go to town with birthday and Easter decorations next year!

On the upside, I’ve almost written all my cards and done most of my present buying! x

Mmm, those look festive and delicious. I’m right on track with the festivities! Holiday cards almost ready for the mail! (That’s a record this year.) Coziest time of the year!

Those brownies look oh-so-dangerous (and delightful!) Amazon is my cure to Christmas chaos.
