Perfect day

The scorching summer weather arrived on Thursday afternoon and departed with the setting sun on Friday. I may be sunburned but I’m so glad I made the most of it with a perfect day at the beach. Blazing sunshine all day, sun dresses and bikinis, passing one of our group cycling on the way, beeping the horn and screaming out the windows at him, burgers and sausages on the barbecue, much sunbathing and swimming in the sea, you have to do a hundred strokes to count it as a proper swim according to someone’s granny, a game of boule with surprising results, two lots of ice cream, taking turns to read aloud from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, some heading home early evening but the rest of us clinging to the day, reluctant to give it up. The last two standing enjoying chips and a sunset paddle, watching the sun finally setting on the way home and pulling up to take photos, not the only ones doing so. Finding my peace, a day of pure bliss, well done to Nicola for arranging the weather when she picked the date a few weeks ago. Couldn’t have asked for more.
