Get your bake on
Did you know this week is national baking week? As the theme of this year’s baking week is ‘bake and share’ I thought I’d enter into the spirit of things and share a couple of my favourite cake recipes, and a couple I’d like to try. Not that I ever really need an excuse to talk about cake!
In celebration of baking week tonight I made some scrummy scones (thanks to Valentine Warner, one of my favourite funny chefs, for the recipe). Yum yum yum. Mr M has had two already. Another of my favourite ever cakes is Nigella’s easy almond cake which is calorific (it involves a whole block of butter, a block of marzipan and six eggs!!!) but fabulously delicious. Serve it with fruit and it helps to ease the guilt.
Now for a couple of recently discovered recipes that are on my to do list: another step along the way in the search for the perfect brownie recipe, and some peanutty chocolatey goodness. How anyone could resist these peanut butter surprise cookies is completely beyond me! Not only do they look super fun, I just know they will taste amazing too, thanks to the fabulous addition of a Reese’s peanut butter cup, one of my all-time favourite chocolatey treats.
Next up is a recommendation by Becky of Teacups, Cupcakes for a nice light brownie recipe. I have previously documented my search for the perfect brownie recipe a couple of times, and am quite thrilled at Becky’s revelation that she too loves that Betty Crocker brownie mix, so am quite hopeful that the recipe she shared might just be the one. I’ll give it a try and let you know!

I think this “bake and share” concept is for you to “share” cakes not just the recipes. Get your apron on, make me cake and get it over here and be snappy about it !
